Company Founder/Operations Director
Jonathan grew up attending and working at camps in Canada, the U.S. and Australia. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Psychology from the University of Michigan and completed a Master’s Degree in Recreation Administration and Outdoor Education at California State University, Chico.
Jonathan received the 2006 Toronto Entrepreneur Award for his business start-up with NYQUEST.
Jonathan currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Camps Association, in the role of Vice President. In 2013, Jonathan was appointed as the Ontario Representative to the Canadian Camping Association Board of Directors.1
International Program Coordinator
Camilla Chaplin has a keen interest in camping, travelling and outdoor education. Originally from the UK (therefore denied the experience of being a camper!), Camilla has spent the last 4 years working at summer camps with Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania in the USA, working her way up to the position of Program Director.
Camilla has travelled extensively in the USA and Europe, and spent a year working and travelling in Australia and New Zealand, as well as backpacking in Thailand. She studied Politics and International Relations at the University of Manchester, UK. Camilla has both participated in and worked for international work and cultural exchange programs, one of which landed her in Toronto, where she currently lives.
Applications & Logistics Coordinator
Simone is a serious nature lover, an adventurer, and a bit of a granola munching environmentalist. She was born and raised in Toronto, and being blessed with the travel bug, has travelled extensively across Canada and abroad. She and has lived on both coasts of Canada, and most provinces in between!
Simone lived and breathed camp from a very young age, attending a tiny, rugged summer camp in Muskoka Ontario for over 10 years. She has a BA in Geography and Geographic Information Systems, and a wealth of experience in environmental education, and community organizing. Simone is thrilled to be back in the camping world, working with NYQUEST to help others have the kind of life changing summers that made her fall in love with camp in the first place!
Certified Immigration Consultant
Lindsay has been with NYQUEST right from the start and has a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Social Work. Her education and her previous work experience as a Social Worker and an Account Manager have greatly helped with our employee and client relations. She is a Certified Immigration Consultant, which is a great asset to the NYQUEST team.
Lindsay grew up attending summer camp and is passionate about the outdoors. She is the mother of two amazing daughters and loves participating in NYQUEST Family and Grandparent Camp every year!
Program Intake & Logistics Director
Maike grew up in Germany and has always had a keen interest in travelling and getting to know different cultures. In 2008, Maike worked at an amazing summer camp in the USA and she had the best summer of her life – she ended up spending five summers at camp.
After graduating with a BA in Culture and Economy from the University of Mannheim, Germany, Maike moved to Canada and fell in love with the country. Maike’s extensive camp and travelling experience has inspired her to join the NYQUEST team and help participants experience how incredible camp is. Maike also plays an integral role in planning and running our Family Camp and Grandparent Camp programs.
Lauren grew up in northern Ontario, and her childhood was like much like that of a stereotypical Canadian: full of family canoe trips, Tim Horton’s donuts, curling tournaments, ice-fishing, and of course, summer camp in Muskoka! She has several years of experience working with children and youth at a variety of camps and organizations.
Lauren is a recent graduate with a BSc from Western University and an MA from the University of Toronto. She joined the NYQUEST team in 2015, and loves sharing her passion for camp and the outdoors with international participants.
Senior Marketing Coordinator
Along with his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, he holds a diploma in Multimedia Design & Production from Fanshawe College. Travis grew up north of Toronto in Keswick, Ontario.
As a young lad in the Great White North, Travis was naturally exposed to different types of outdoor activities, excursions, camps, and the odd road trip. He is looking forward to his second season with NYQUEST, in a position that combines his passions, career aspirations, work experience, and love for the outdoors.
Co-Director of Placement
Nick joined the NYQUEST team after spending five summers at Easter Seals Camp Merrywood in Perth, Ontario where he started as a Camp Counsellor and made his way up to Program Director. Nick is from Liverpool, England and originally came to Canada on a work abroad program in 2009 working at a micro-brewery in Canmore, Alberta. A keen hiker, camper and mountain biker, he quickly fell in love with the Canadian outdoors. Eager to return to Canada, he applied to NYQUEST in 2012 and subsequently returned for another four summers.
Nick graduated from Edge Hill University, England in 2015 with a degree in Primary Education and worked for the past year as a Grade 5 teacher in England. He is currently completing a Masters degree in Religious Education at the University of Toronto and hopes to graduate in 2018. Nick is the co-director of our placement team and hopes to facilitate participants to have the same fantastic camp experience that he did.
Sammy is from Nottingham, England where she spent her childhood going on long countryside walks, exploring quaint English villages and drinking many a cream teas! She became a Drama Instructor in 2015 at a learning disabilities camp in Ontario. She continued her adventure by touring the west of Canada, where she ticked off many bucket list activities, such as bungee jumping and whale watching! Canada left a huge impression on her, and so she decided to move back in 2016 on a 2-year holiday visa, where she returned to the same camp!
Sammy graduated with a BA from Lincoln University in 2011 and a MA in Applied Theatre at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama In 2014. She has worked in community and outreach programs, focusing on drama as a tool for raising self-esteem and social awareness in outdoor and non-theatrical environments. Sammy has joined NYQUEST as the Intake’s Applications Assistant, who wants to give participants the opportunity to experience the unique environment that is summer camp!
Marketing & Recruitment Coordinator
Sebastian was born and raised in Ecuador. He has a passion for traveling and using online platforms to engage with different communities and audiences all around the world. His desire to learn from different cultures, as well as his dream to study abroad, brought him to Canada many years ago.
Sebastian moved to Vancouver to study at The University of British Columbia. He obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Marketing. During his studies, he studied a semester abroad in Australia where he fell in love with different outdoor activities including hiking and camping. He recently joined NYQUEST and is excited to continue doing what he loves with our team.
Michelle is from sunny Queensland, Australia but has spent the last four summers at a camp in Northern Ontario (a privately owned camp in Temagami). Starting as a camp counsellor in 2013, Michelle worked her way up to Head Lifeguard, Manager and the ‘Leaders In Training’ Leader. Michelle loves to travel and has visited over twenty countries so far with Canada being an easy favourite. Her favourite things about Canada are snowboarding, hiking, canoe trips and of course Tim Hortons! She is excited to be representing NYQUEST in Australia and New Zealand but also eager to get back to beautiful Canada for another amazing summer!
