NYQUEST will review your application, references and interview report to make sure you are well suited to succeed in a job at a camp in Canada. In many cases NYQUEST will contact you over the phone to do some final screening to make sure you are a good candidate for a leadership position at a camp.
As soon as your application is accepted, NYQUEST will work very quickly to find a placement for you that matches your needs and preferences. Before the placement is finalized you will have a chance to review the camp's web-site and speak with the camp director.
NYQUEST will send you a comprehensive pre-travel handbook that will help prepare you for your trip to Canada. The staff at NYQUEST are also available to quickly answer any of your questions before you leave your home country.
Participants will receive a Working Holiday Visa or a Temporary Work Permit. Both permits cost $150 Canadian. The work permit process is very simple. You do NOT need to interview at a Canadian consulate to receive the work permit. Your work permit will be organized completely via email and in rare cases by regular mail. NYQUEST will communicate with each participant to decide on which work permit is best for their situation.
NYQUEST will organize and pay for your transportation from the airport to your accommodations in the Canadian host city (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver or Calgary). We will also pay for and organize your accommodations for two nights in the host city and your transportation up to camp. Our recruiters can also help you organize your international flights and link you up with other CCEP participants who are traveling on your flight.
All CCEP participants will be required to carryStudentGuardhealth insurance. NYQUEST will organize and pay for the insurance. Participants will receive an insurance card at their NYQUEST orientation in Canada. The insurance will be valid for 10 weeks. Participants will be instructed about how to extend their insurance after the 10 weeks. Participants should refer to theStudentguard website to review the insurance coverage. It is up to the participant to decide if they want to take out additional coverage for their work and travel experience.
NYQUEST will visit most participants during their work experience. We will also check in with you to make sure that you are enjoying your placement and if you require any work related or visa/work permit related support. We also provide all participants with a 24 hour emergency support contact number. Participants should carry this number with them at all times.
NYQUEST will provide an orientation at a host city in Canada. The orientation will include a walking tour of the host city and several workshops to help participants get organized for their work placement. The participants will also have a chance to meet other international staff who will be attending their respective camp. During the orientation, the participants will receive their Social Insurance Number and a free bank account. Orientations will take place at various times throughout May and June. Participants can select from any orientation date. The date must be selected before the participant travels to Canada. During your orientation you will also receive a phone card with 30 minutes pre-paid international talking time and 30 minutes free internet access at your accommodations in the Canadian host city.
Participants will be able to return to their camp the following summer without the support of NYQUEST. They will be able to negotiate their own salary with their directors. Participants will receive a much larger salary during their second year of work, about $2,500-$3,000 CAD.
